Charity remains at the heart of DUCFS and everything we do. As the UK’s largest student-led fundraiser, we carry a responsibility to address the most pressing issues for our generation and promote positive social change. Earlier in 2019, DUCFS raised a record-breaking £150,000 for the Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) earlier in 2019, shedding light on the environmental impact of the fast fashion industry.
For 2020, we are turning our attention towards the humanitarian cost of the mass consumerism taking place across the globe. This crisis spans beyond just the fashion industry, with most individuals and corporations involved in the purchased, production and investment of affected goods. Lasting improvements can only be achieved through a wider societal drive for change, harnessing the power of corporations, governments and individuals.
We are delighted to announce that we will be joining forces with two charities, STOP THE TRAFFIK and Fashion Revolution, to create and launch a tailored campaign. This is a brand new endeavour for DUCFS and one that hopes to expand our legacy as a philanthropic movement, promoting meaningful awareness of our cause and catalysing lasting change.
Our bespoke campaign aims to throw a spanner in the works, shedding light on industrial exploitation and human rights injustices across the global supply chain, in a collective effort to #shapeshift.
STOP THE TRAFFIK is a pioneer in human trafficking prevention utilised the power of society's two greatest assets: people and technology. They aim to implement sustainable and systemic change.
Fashion Revolution works to unite individuals and organisations to change the way our clothes are sourced, produced and consumed. focusing on collaboration across the whole supply chain, Fashion Revolution has reached over 100 countries globally.
